Walking around Raval a while ago we found Baptiste, who was wearing some cool wooden sunglasses which I couldn't resist to ask about; the material looked kind of familiar: wood, layers of different colors... Of course, this eyewear is made from skateboards! Even more impressed knowing they are handmade by him and his brother Gianni. So we were pleased to visit the studio were the entire process takes place, from the broken skateboard to the final product. Maybe you could never imagine how from a skateboard that has popped, ground, slid, stepped and jumped on millions of times they can get such a fine glasses. The thing is skateboard is an ideal material to recycle because of its strength and flexibility from being composed by different layers of maple wood. But anything could be possible without the delicate, patient and thorough handwork of the Vuerich brothers who were really kind to show us the different parts of the process.
The strength and flexibility of maple wood makes skateboard an ideal material to recycle.
The layers composing a skateboard create an endless variation of colors, giving each a unique carachter.
Not only glasses are what these Belgian brothers obtain from skateboards, also this lamp, chairs and many more... Good job!

What to say about Vuerich B.? Their glasses are so beautiful, apart of being so special because each one is unique, behind them we find a handmade work and a recycling mode. It's time for new ideas and crafts, laying aside the big market. Wish you the best guys! And we leave you with this really nice video by Suziie Wang... Enjoy!

ResponderSuprimirPero ¡qué original! Menudo trabajo conlleva esto aunque me pregunto: ¿no serán algo pesadas de llevar estas gafas?
